Meridian Tooth Chart
A meridian tooth chart is a diagram used in holistic dentistry to illustrate the connection between specific teeth and various organs or body systems based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles. It suggests that issues with a particular tooth may be linked to imbalances in a corresponding organ through energy pathways known as meridians, highlighting the interconnection between oral health and overall well-being.
The subtle body
The subtle body: an interoceptive map of central nervous system function and meditative mind-brain-body integration This comparative review explores a neglected area relevant to current research: the validity of a traditional central nervous system (CNS) model that coevolved with the practices most studied today and that provides the first comprehensive neural-based typology and mechanistic framework of contemplative practices. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27164469/
Epigenetics & Trauma
There has been great interest in the possibility that effects of trauma might be passed from parent to offspring through epigenetic mechanisms. This topic has stimulated discussion and controversy in the scientific literature, the popular press, and culture at large. This article describes the initial observations that have led to recent examinations of epigenetic mechanisms in association with effects of parental trauma exposure on offspring. Epigenetic research in animals has provided models for how such effects might be transmitted.
Psychoneuroimmunology
Research conducted over the past several decades has revolutionized our understanding of the role of the immune system in neural and psychological development and function across the life span. Our goal in this review is to introduce this dynamic area of research to a psychological audience and highlight its relevance for clinical psychology. We begin by introducing the basic physiology of immune-to-brain signaling and the neuroimmune network, focusing on inflammation.
Plato's Holistic Approach
Plato (Greek: Πλάτων), born Aristocles (c. 427 – 348 BC), was an ancient Greek philosopher of the Classical period who is considered a foundational thinker in Western philosophy and an innovator of the written dialogue and dialectic forms. He raised problems for what became all the major areas of both theoretical philosophy and practical philosophy, and was the founder of the Platonic Academy, a philosophical school in Athens where Plato taught the doctrines that would later become known as Platonism. Plato believed medicine should consider the whole person, not just isolated symptoms, and understand the underlying causes of illness.
